Location

One of the most intriguing capital cities in Europe, Paris attracts
millions of visitors each year to witness its renowned architectural
and artistic heritage, represented by a vast array of historic attractions.
The commercial, economic and intellectual centre of France, Paris
is at the forefront of modern European development both politically
and culturally, and offers the visitor an infinite variety of things
to see and do. Often referred to as the 'City of Light', Paris lies
on the banks of the river Seine. North of the river are some of the
city's most famous landmarks that include the Champs Élysées running
west to l'Arc de Triomphe. At the other end of the Champs Élysées
is la Place de la Concorde, a beautiful square that served as the
scene of several important historic events, including the execution
of Louis XVI. A little further east is the world-famous Louvre and
the Centre Georges Pompidou. South of Centre Pompidou is Notre-Dame
on l'Île de la Cité, while on the left bank (Rive Gauche) is Paris'
most prominent landmark, the Eiffel Tower. Also on this side of the
river is Musée d'Orsay, famous for its Impressionist collection. Hyatt
Regency Paris-Madeleine is within walking distance of most of these
sites, on the Boulevard Malesherbes which is conveniently situated
close to the Opéra and Paris' most exclusive shopping streets, Rue
de Faubourg St Honoré, Avenue Montaigne and Place Vendôme. |
